what is a “marz”?

when you think of marzipan, you may think of a thick almond paste or sweet treat, depending on where you are.

the origin of our marz is more closely related to a "mazapán", typically made of peanuts or almonds, found most often in Mexico and Spain respectively. taking a further look back, there is speculation as to where marzipan really came from, but its origins may include Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.

in the U.S., we found there is no predominant version.

enter, charlie's marz! our flagship is pecan-based, and we're excited to soon offer the other nut varieties.

why?!

our family, like many others, loves and has always been brought together by food, it's part of our heritage, and some of us have a particularly strong sweet tooth. *cough cough*

this recipe and business idea both came to life with the love and support of my parents -- learning how to make marzipans with my mom using our delicious family recipe, and partnering with my dad, known as Charlie to many close to him, for a new adventure for both of us, taking on the world of marz! and because...

we're all nuts!

you should also know:

1) each marz is handmade, just for you.

2) yes, the rumors are true — our marz contain nuts.

if you choose to share with others, please be aware of our nut-free community.

3) we also contain a smidgen of dairy. don’t worry though, dairy-free recipes are a-brewin!
